PKS Figure Sued for Calling a Lawyer “Belegug”
TEMPO Interactive, Bandung, West Java:A Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) political figure, Yusuf Supendi, is facing a Rp 2 billion lawsuit from his former student who happened to be the lawyer for 10 PKS officials once sued by Yusuf in a Jakarta court. The lawyer in question, Zainuddin Paru, has sued Yusuf at the Bandung District Court, which is currently attempting to supervise over mediation between the two parties. "Today is the second phase of the mediation. Meanwhile, we continue to stick to our lawsuit. We sue the defendant to pay Rp2 billion in damages," said the plaintiff's attorney, Asep Kuswandi, ahead of the mediation in the Bandung District Court, Wednesday, June 19, 2012. Zainudin protested Yusuf's statement in a document entitled Replik Pengadilan Yusuf Supendi Menggugat Elite PKS published by Mushaf in 2011. On page 4, Yusuf responded to Zainudin's statement on a media online repudiating Yusuf's claim as the founder of PKS. Yusuf described his former student with two Sundanese adjectives, that is, culanggung or belegug or impudent, unethical and stupid. Zainudin's camp considered Yusuf's statement an offense. In addition to Yusuf, Zainudin also sued Mushaf Publisher as defendant II and PT Gramedia Asri Media as defendant III. ERICK P. HARDI
