Neneng Eyes Property Business in Malaysia
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:KPK deputy Bambang Widjojanto said he was seeking evidence and information on the roles of two Malaysians, Raja Azmi bin Muhamad Yusof and Mohamad Hasan bin Khusi who were suspected of helping the fugitive, Neneng Sri Wahyuni, enter Indonesia through Batam.
"During an intensive questioning the important role Azmi played was unraveled," said Bambang. The two Malaysians were strongly suspected of preventing and hampering or obstructing the investigation of the suspect [Neneng].
Somebody close to Azmi revealed that the two persons along with Neneng had devised a business plan while she was on the run in Malaysia. Neneng planned to engage in property business in Malaysia. "They met around January for business purposes," said the source.
Based on Tempo's documents, Azmi was CEO of Meram Holding Sdn. Bhd, a construction firm. He was reportedly a relative of the Selangor Sultanate. He resides at a luxurious residential area on Jalan Makyong Seksyen, Shah Alam, Selangor. However, Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, Datuk Syed Munshe Afdzaruddin bin Syed Hassan denied that Azmi was related to the Sultan's family.
The source disclosed that Neneng told Azmi about her desire to invest in housing business. Neneng would also buy the shares of one of the major banks in Malaysia. Neneng's capital came from her assets in Indonesia. "Neneng went to Jakarta to look after the assets," said the source. Neneng's team of attorneys wrote a letter in April 2012 to KPK regarding Neneng's desire to come home. The team of lawyers stated in the letter they requested more facilities for Neneng's arrival. But KPK had never paid attention to the letter.
