Anas Claims Many Still Wish to Join the Democrat Party
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Democrat Party’s beleaguered and isolated chairman Anas Urbaningrum has recently said that an ongoing selection of potential members to join the party would undergo rigorous procedures. "The selection is tight. Not anybody can be accepted," Anas said at a press conference after seeing Soegija at Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, June 15, 2012. Anas claimed that public enthusiasm to become party cadres and executives of the Democrat Party was great throughout Indonesia. He found this out from the reports of Central and Regional Democrat Party Executive Boards all over Indonesia. Anas did frequently make trips to the regions. As the enthusiasm was great, there had to be selection. "Fairly good and tight," he said. He said the recruitment process continued to be improved, especially to sort out the cadres with a strong mentality so they as politicians would not give in easily. Anas made this statement with reference to the resignation of a Democrat Party cadre, Theresia E.E. Pardede, better known as Tere, early in June recently. "That occasionally happens to one or two whose mental willpower [declines], that's natural. That's part of the learning process," he said casually. MUNAWWAROH
