East Java Democrats Say Anas’s Imminent Dismissal Prerogative of President Yudhoyono
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Officials of the East Java Democrat Party have said that any plans to dismiss top Democrat Party official Anas Urbaningrum should be left solely in the hands of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. “We all expressed it in a recent meeting. The chairman of the party’s advisory board (Yudhoyono) is the one who shall take action,” East Java Democrat Party chief Soekarwo said on Thursday. “This matter has to be resolved as soon as possible.” Though he has not been declared a suspect by the antigraft commission, Anas’s name has been linked to numerous state projects riddled with corruption suspicions. The loudest among those making these accusations is graft convict Muhammad Nazaruddin, who was the party’s treasurer at one time.
