Marzuki Alie Promises to Step Down If Suspected of Corruption
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Member of the Democrat Party Board of Patrons, Marzuki Alie, has seriously considered the Board of Patrons Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's statement. He said he will quit the Democrat Party if implicated in a corruption case. "If already named a suspect, one had better resign.
"That's my principle," he told reporters on Thursday, June 14, 2012. Though not mentioning a specific name, Democrat Party Board of Patrons Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he would expel the party cadres involved in corruption. When speaking for about 20 minutes last night, SBY said that if the cadres did not want to be expelled, he should practice the party's clean policy lines.
"The Democrat Party will continue to practice clean political lines. Those incapable of doing so had better step down and resign," said SBY when opening the meeting of the Party Founders at Sahid Jaya Hotel last night. The frequently mentioned names are General Chairman Anas Urbaningrum, Deputy Secretary General Anglina Sondakh and Sports Minister Andi Malarangeng who was often mentioned by former Party cadre M. Nazaruddin. Marzuki replied yes when queried whether SBY's statement referred to Angie, Anas and Andi. Marzuki said the three persons had better resign from the Democrat Party.
