Feasting on Anas' Congress Money, Ismiyati Ready to be Hanged
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Ismiyati Saidi, former chairperson of Bualeremo Regency's Democrat Party, Gorontalo, again visited the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) to submit a few items of evidence linked the mass bribery allegations conducted in the 2010 Democrat Party Congress in Bandung. Ismiyati said she visited KPK to clarify her investigation by KPK last Monday in relation to the Hambalang case. According to her, there was suspicion of money politics during the Democrat Party Congress. "I am ready to be hanged from the Gorontalo Tower if I lie," said Ismiyati at KPK office yesterday. She disclosed that each participant of the congress was awarded. Ismiyati herself received US$7,000 (about Rp65 million) which she received in phases. But she did not know where the money came from. "A BlackBerry cellphone was also given to each participant." Among the items of evidence handed over to KPK was a card of congress participant. There was an agreement signed by participants to support Anas Urbaningrum as general chairman. Ismiyati said that according to the agreement, those voting for Anas were promised the continued post of branch or regional Democrat Party board chairmen. Anas' attorney Firman Wijaya said his client would not be affected by Ismiyati's statement. According to him, Ismiyati's complaint was a mere report and its truth had not been proven yet. Firman thought that the allegation was only an attempt to bring disgrace to Anas Urbaningrum's image. RUSMAN PARAQBUEQ | IRA GUSLINA | SUKMA
