Dahlan Asked to Clean Up SOEs within Two Years
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Aria Bima, deputy-chairman of the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Commission on Trade Industry and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), has set a deadline of two years for SOE Minister Dahlan Iskan to eradicate graft at state enterprises. “Prove it then eliminate it,” said Aria contacted on Tuesday.
Aria said Dahlan should focus on tangible actions in his effort to achieve good, clean and transparent SOEs. “That should not just be a discourse. That’s the ministry’s job,” said the politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).
After meeting the chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday evening, Dahlan said that 70 percent of state enterprises engaged in construction services had secured projects through unfair practices such as bribery. “That comes from a small survey we conducted a while ago,” Dahlan added.
