Project Corruption Started with Contractors, Says Dahlan
TEMPO Interactive, Bogor:The State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Dahlan Iskan has instructed the CEOs of state enterprises firms to take responsibility for indications of graft at their companies. “The first person to be held accountable is the leader of the company,” said the minister in Bogor on Wednesday.
In order to eradicate misappropriation related to projects involving SOEs, Dahlan said that company leaders must be more closely monitored. “Corruption starts with contractors,” he said.
In regard to indications of graft committed by employees at the SOE Ministry, the minister denied the allegations. “The ministry only has Rp100 billion in its budget. How are we supposed to misuse that?” said Dahlan. Indications of graft, according to the minister, were more likely to be found at enterprises that handle projects.
