Kristiadi said on Tuesday that the removal of National Land Agency Head Joyo Winoto could possibly be a part of a string of efforts by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in restructuring the image of the Democrat Party. Joyo is currently linked to graft indications in the Hambalang Sports Stadium construction scandal, currently being investigated by the antigraft commission, or the KPK. "Joyo's removal can also be part of a power buildup within the Democrat Party," said Kristiadi when contacted Tuesday, June 12, 2012. According to Kristiadi, Joyo Winoto was known as being close to Democrat Party General Chairman Anas Urbaningrum. Joyo reportedly played the role to facilitate the issuance of land documents for Hambalang where an integrated sports center was being built. The Democrat Party's cleanup by removing Joyo Winoto constituted SBY's attempt to restore public faith in the party that won the 2009 general elections. This mopping-up operation was also obvious when the Dem Faction leader in parliament was removed. Kristiadi strongly believed that Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono sought to remove individuals close to Anas. According to Kristiadi, it was the right momentum for SBY to demonstrate his commitment to resolve corruption cases. SBY could become a pioneer for other political parties in the way of courage to lead a cleanup operation within the party and of state agencies. Nevertheless Kristiadi doubted if SBY's commitment would continue until the party dignitaries allegedly involved in the Hambalang case were removed.
