Three Persons Detained over Papua Shootings
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Police have taken into custody three persons in relation to the recent prevalent shooings in Papua. "The intials of the three men we hold in custody are W, V, and D," said National Police Chief Gen. Timur Pradopo at the State Palace Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Timur reported that the three were arrested in the areas of Jayapura. Timur declined to identify them. "Please be patient. We're still unable to say what group they belong to and what the motive is. We're investigating the matter," he said. Timur said he did not know if the Free Papua Organization (OPM) was involved in a number of incidents. "It's still early. We're still probing it." As for the OPM that will celebrate its anniversary in July, Timur said that security in Papua on the occasion of that particular day would become a joint responsibility. "The national police will certainly be assisted by TNI and intelligence apparatus." ANANDA PUTRI
