State Railway Company Sends Two Economy Trains for Maintenance
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:State railway company Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), has sent two of its electric trains (KRL) from Bogor and Bekasi for maintenance. “They break down regularly so we have sent them to maintenance,” KAI operational area 1 spokesman Mateta Rijalulhaq told Tempo on Saturday. Mateta said two air-conditioned commuter lines would replace the economy class electric trains. “We have no back-up for economy trains,” said the spokesman. No tariff adjustments will be applied in regard to the change in train services. “The commuter line trains have different tariffs because they provide different services,” Mateta added. Economy-class train tickets cost Rp2,000 while commuter line tickets cost Rp7,000. “We don’t know how long [the maintenance is going to take] but the economy trains will be pulled out from operations in stages,” said the spokesman. There are currently 12 economy trains and 24 air-conditioned commuter line trains that run 531 times a day across Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. AMANDRA MUSTIKA MEGARANI
