This Year, Subsidized Fuel Quotas for Trains to Increase
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Oil & Gas Supervisory Agency (BPH Migas) provides PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Indonesian Railway Company) more subsidized fuel than last year's. The fuel quotas provided amount to 169,000 kiloliters. "The fuel quotas of certain types of fuel for PT KAI (railway comppany) shall be determined in a decree," said BPH Head Andy Noorsaman Sommeng in his written statement Thursdy, June 7, 2012. The decree in question is BPH Migas Head's decree No. 005/PSO/BPHMIGAS/KOM/2012. The fuel is allocated because PT KAI in a year can transport 30 million tons of goods and 200 million passengers. Andy expected the increase in fuel allocations to increase the income of the company and its services for railway users at home. "KAI is expected to be able to compete with other land transport means, particularly freighters, more cheaply and better," he said. According to calculations, KAI with increased fuel quotas can save up to Rp200 billion. GUSTIDHA BUDIARTIE
