Dahlan: Rather Than Merpati, Capital Had Better Be Given to Salt Industry
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan was not going to provide state capital to PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines. "[The money] had better be given to PT Garam [salt company]," said Dahlan in a work meeting with DPR Commission on State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) at DPR building, Jakarta, Monday, June 4, 2012. The meeting discussed the SOEs Ministry's work plan and budget for 2013 and the 2012 Privatization Program. According to Dahlan, the state-owned airline company had received trillions of rupiah in capital injection but its performance continued to be poor, in fact, the company ran into the red. He said Merpati's problem needed to be resolved through corporation, instead of subsidies. Government capital had better be given to membrane procurement project for salt industry. SUNDARI
