World Oil Prices Fall, Pertamax Prices Follow
TEMPO Interactive, New York:Prices of crude oil closed below US$84 per barrel on Friday, or 8 percent lower after data revealed a gloomier than expected outlook on the US economy. The European debt crisis and the slowing down of China’s economy have led to a decline in energy demand and pushed oil prices down to their lowest level since October 7. Sweet crude oil for July was down by US$3.3 on Friday, or 3.8 percent to US$83.23 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). The decline in oil prices has dragged the price of domestic oil down since the beginning of this month. Pertamax fuel prices at Pertamina refueling stations haven fallen by 4.6 percent to Rp9,250 per liter since June 1. Similarly, prices of Super fuel at Shell refueling stations fell 5.1 percent to Rp9,250 per liter. MARKETWATCH/ VIVA B. KUSNANDAR
