Ten Junior High School Students in Denpasar Graduate with Top Marks
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:“Welcome to SMPN 1 Denpasar,” reads the sign outside the school on Jalan Surapati in Denpasar, Bali. The school, located on a street shaded by ketapang and palm trees, has become the talk of the town after one of its students, Ni Putu Tamara Bidari Suweta, gained the highest mark in Indonesia’s national exam with a perfect score of 40. “I didn’t expect to get 40 in the exams. I’m so happy,” said Tamara as quoted by Antara. The girl, born on March 1, 1997, was doubtful of two of her answers in English. On the other hand, Tamara received a perfect 10 in other subjects. For 1 Denpasar Junior High School, this is the fourth year the school has gained the highest score in the national exams. In addition to Tamara, nine other students from the school graduated with flying colors with a mark of 39.80. The students are Julia Justina, Made Surya Dharmawan, I Putu Arya Aditya Nugraha, Gede Fajar Satria, Ketut Nindy Rahayu Sugitha, Ida Bagus Gde Ananta Mahesvara, I Wayan Govinda Gotama Putra, I Gusti Ngurah Agung Putra Agniveda and Ricko Wijaya.
