Russia To Assist in Sukhoi Crash Investigation
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Chairman of the National Transport Safety Committee (KNKT), Tatang Kurniadi, said the Russian counterpart will assist KNKT in the investigation of the Sukhoi Superjet-100 crash, however he stressed that KNKT will lead the team probing the cause of the crash. “They are scheduled to arrive at 7 pm tonight from Bangkok,” Tatang said at Halim Perdanakusuma airbase in Jakarta, today, May 10, 2012. He said he has been communicating with his Russian counterpart, Chairman of KNKT Russia. “There are two to three countries involved in this tragedy.” Tatang explained that the crash site is located on a 85 degree slope at 5.800 feet. Based on the location, he is certain that the plane collided with the slope Efforts are focused on evacuating the victims and the flight recordings, he said adding that the SAR team has been told to also retrieve the black box. He stressed that the investigation will not focus on pointing fingers, or compensation for the victims, but to reveal the cause of the crash. I WAYAN AGUS PURNOMO
