PGRI Wants National Exams to be Re-evaluated
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) chairman Sulistiyo has called for a re-evaluation of the national exams. “[The exams] must be carefully reviewed, [to determine] whether or not the test should be continued,” said Sulistiyo, at an educational seminar in Jakarta on Thursday. Sulistiyo added that the national exams could be overly stressful for students. He said the national exams had the potential to be counterproductive as they emphasize factual knowledge over personal development. “The national exams only reflect the students’ academic achievements,” said the chairman.
