TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The National Police have recorded 152 cases of firearm misuse between 2009 and 2011. “Not all were legal firearms, some were illegal,” said National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Saud Usman Nasution at the National Police Headquarters office on Monday. Over the three-year period, the police recorded 174 cases of armed robbery. The police also recorded 76 cases of confiscated firearms and processed 61 cases of illegal firearms. “Firearms are commonly found on the black market and can usually be found in regions formerly plagued by conflict such as Ambon or Poso,” said the spokesman.
