TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto had asked rally group leaders to watch out for provocateurs during the May Day rally today. He said May Day commemorations should be positively interpreted, therefore the plan of laborers to observe the day with long marches to several locations such as the House building, HI roundabout and Palace is permitted. “As long as the rallies are conducted in a disciplined manner and allows the public to do their activities in peace,” Djoko said after a closed internal meeting at the presidential palace on April 30. Head of National Intelligence Agency Lt General Marciano Norman also warned against infiltration by unscrupulous thugs. “I have warned each group not to let unknown people join in because unknown people have unknown objectives.” Labor and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar explained that an appeal had been made via circular letters to all companies planning the May Day rally. “First is to pay attention to workers' welfare and second to hold activities honoring workers' dedication.” he said.
