Military Commander Accuses OPM of Shooting Trigana Plane
TEMPO Interactive, Jayapura, Papua:The XVII/Cenderawasih Military Commander Maj. Gen. M. Erwin Safitri has accused the Free Papua Organization (OPM) for shooting down the Trigana Air aircraft in Mulia Airport, Puncak Jaya. “Such actions have disturbed the public and, for us, there should be no such thing as armed civilians. Those [perpetrators] were armed OPM members and we will use arms to deal with them,” Erwin told reporters in Jayapura on Tuesday.
However, Erwin added that his squad will try its best to apply persuasive approach to the shooters. Erwin mentioned Goliat Tabuni who has been suspected of taking refuge in the forest. Earlier, Goliat has been named as the general of the National Liberation Army. Goliat’s son was shot to death by the military some time ago.
