Fuel Price Increase Put Pressure on Farmers
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Khudori, an agriculture observer from the Indonesian Political Economy Association, said that fuel price increases would increase farmers’ production costs, such as the transportation of agriculture products, agricultural tools and fertilizer distribution. The move will ultimately affect agricultural commodity prices, particularly rice, he said. “For fertilizer, although the government’s subsidy sets the selling price, farmers still buy above the set price because the distribution and transportation cost is borne by farmers,” Khudori told Tempo yesterday.
