Indocement Asked to Listen to Locals over Factory Construction

Sasmito, deputy-chairman of the Central Java Legislature (DPRD) Commission D on Development, if both parties do not involve the community in the planning, then manipulations on land issues and environmental destruction may occur.
“Let’s not deviate. As long as the criteria and environmental requirements are met, we will support it. We want to avoid absence of approach [to the local community] and manipulations on land issues there,” Sasmito went on.
Sasmiti added that the cement factory construction plan in Kendeng Mountain must be carried out carefully. Otherwise, the plan may disturb preservation of natural resources and cause environmental damage.
