PLN to Increase Power Plant Capacity
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:State-run electricity company PT PLN will increase the capacity of its power plants by 6,000 megawatts (MW) this year. The electricity supply comes from several power plants that are part of the 10,000 MW acceleration program, and power plants built by private producers. “From the 10,000 MW project, we project to operate 3.351 MW this year,” PLN CEO Nur Pamudji said yesterday. The extra capacity is expected to boost the rate of electrification this year. “We will observe the ratio level of each regency,” he said. The electrification ratio is the number of Indonesians who have access to electricity. Currently, only 72.03 percent of Indonesians have access to electricity based on PLN’s data. The national electricity ratio is projected to reach 74.03 percent this year. GUSTIDHA BUDIARTIE
