TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Golkar Party chairman Aburizal Bakrie has reported Ramadhan Pohan to the Indonesian Police for defamation. “We’re convinced the report will go to court,” said Bakrie’s lawyer, Rudy Alfonso, at the police headquarters yesterday. He said that Aburizal had reported Pohan as an individual rather than as a party member. According to Rudy, his client protested Pohan’s statement on an online media outlet, which alleged that PT Sumber Mineral Nusantara (SMN) was an “ATM” for Aburizal’s and his group through the Bima regent. The statement, which was quoted by other print media, has harmed Bakrie as an individual and as Golkar chairman, said Rudy. “The statement also worried some party members so we feel that we need to clear this up,” he said. Rudy stressed that there was no connection between Bakrie and PT SMN. Rudy said the Bakrie family did not own any shares there. Instead, he said, the shares were owned by the Tahidja family. Ramadhan said that Bakrie was overreacting, adding that he would justify his statement. “That’s the public’s aspiration, their voice, and I will not apologize for it,” said Ramadhan ANANDA W.
