Subsidized Fuel Regulation Proposed
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The government will immediately ratify the regulation on the use of subsidized fuel. Evita H. Legowo, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry’s Oil and Gas director-general, said that the Presidential Decree No. 55/2005 on Domestic Fuel Retail Price has been revised.
The new bill was proposed to the Secretary of State on Monday. Evita expects the bill to be ratified by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono by the end of the month. “It’s completed and it will be approved by all stakeholders, ministries, including Pertamina and the Finance Ministry,” Evita said on Wednesday.
The revision regulates the group of vehicles which are entitled to use subsidized fuel. On the new regulation, Evita said, “We better wait until April.” Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said subsidies for fuel and electricity have stretched to IDR 63 trillion due to the rise in crude oil prices. The 2011 revised state budget has set oil prices at US$95 per barrel when the actual price has leapt to US$110 to US$111 per barrel.
