Why Only Ban Wa Ode Nurhayati? asks ICW
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The travel ban placed on Wa Ode Nurhayati by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) should have been applied to other members of the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Budget Board who were involved in the same case, says Indonesia Corruption Watch. “The KPK must explain why Wa Ode was the only one banned,” ICW’s corruption and politics analyst, Abdullah Dahlan, told Tempo yesterday. Yet, he added, many alleged corruption cases have been abandoned without any legal measures. He said that Angelina Sondakh, who was often mentioned in the Jakabaring XXVI Sea Games case, seemed to be immune from the law. Dahlan said he hoped the KPK would continue to uncover budget corruption in the future. “We started with Nazaruddin and shouldn’t stop there,” he said. FEBRIANA FIRDAUS | FEBRIYAN
