Perhutani’s Wood Production to Decrease by 30 Percent
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The wood production of state forestry company Perhutani is estimated to decrease by 30 percent by 2016. This is part of the company’s forestry product diversification program. “It’s been 60 percent. It was even 90 percent,” CEO Bambang Sukmananto told reporters yesterday. Bambang said he hoped that in 2014, Perhutani’s wood production would decrease by 50 percent as non-wood production continues to develop. One of the popular products is gondorukem, a material processed from pine resin and used as a mixture in the wax to produce batik motifs. Up until November, the export value of gondorukem was Rp870 billion with a volume of 80,000 tons. Meanwhile, the total export of wood production was only Rp219 billion, with a volume of 1 million cubic meters per year. FEBRIANA FIRDAUS
