17 Train Stations to Undergo Renovations
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:State railway company Kereta Api Indonesia will conduct extensive renovations 17 train stations in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi areas. The existing stations—mostly from the Dutch colonial era—are considered to be too small to support latest operation systems.
“The Manggarai Station may be the first one to be revamped because it is one of the busiest transit stations,” said Makmur Syaheran, Corporate Secretary of the PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (PT KCJ), a subsidiary company of the PT Kereta Api Indonesia, on Sunday.
In addition to the Manggarai Station, Makmur said the Citayam and Cilebut Stations in Bogor will also be included in the priority list. Elevated platforms and the implementation of a double-line are some of the things included in the renovation plan.
