Police Questions 29 Witnesses in Collapsed Bridge Case
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Police have questioned 29 people regarding the collapse of the Mahakam II Bridge in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan, National Police’s information center chief, Comm. Boy Rafli, announced yesterday.
Boy said that besides the contractor, the provincial government and the local public works office staffers, expert witnesses from several universities as well as survivors were also questioned.
Kutai Kartanegara Police chief, Comm. I Gusti K.B. Harryarsana, said that his office would question the director of PT Bukaka Teknik Utama, Sofiah Balfas, today. Bukaka was the last maintenance contractor before the bridge collapsed.
Previously, the CEO of PT Bukaka Teknik Utama, Irsal Kamaruddin, denied that his workmen jack screwed the vertical cable and caused the collapse. “We were in the preparation stage. We weren’t doing any repairs,” he said.
