Fuel Subsidies Expand to IDR 10 Trillion
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Fuel subsidies this year have expanded to IDR 10 trillion, from the total subsidies value of IDR 123 trillion. “The additional subsidies are effective until the end of this year,” said Satya W. Yudha, a member of the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Energy Commission, on Thursday. Based on the revised 2011 state budget, the subsidized fuel quota has been raised from 38.5 million kiloliters to 40.5 million kiloliters. However, the additional quota failed to meet the demands for subsidized fuel before the end of this year. Satya said that the additional IDR 10 trillion subsidies can be disbursed through a mechanism without disturbing state budget. However, the government must obtain approval from the Budget Council before disbursing the funds. ALI | GUSTIDHA BUDIARTIE | AKBAR TRI KURNIAWAN | DEWI RINA
