BI to Raise Limit for Customer Disputes
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Bank Indonesia is considering raising the maximum limit of funds disputed by customer and banks, which will be handled through the mediation of the central bank. Bank Indonesia previously set a minimum of Rp500 million. Bank Indonesia’s deputy governor Muliaman Hadad said there were cases filed by customers with financial losses worth Rp2-3 billion. "I thought it should be handled through mediation," he said last weekend. The maximum limit of the disputed fund has not been decided. "We’re studying the ideal number," said Muliaman. Generally, cases handled by the central bank include credit cards and ATM misuse. Bank Indonesia will also educate the people about bank crimes, especially credit cards. "For instance, you shouldn’t write your password on the card or give your password to others," he said. FEBRIANA FIRDAUS
