TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Immigratrion Office said the government is planning to expand the new immigration monitoring system which has been applied at four major airports in Java and Bali to 27 immigration check points by June this year.Head of the Public Communication Section of the Immigration Office MJ Barimbiung said the new system, Border Control Management will enable online biometric and passport verification to replace the old manual system.Barimbing said the online system will reduce human error factors in immigration checking following criticism launched at the immigration office over the escapes of corruption suspects. The new system is expected to minimise escape of citizen under travel ban, Barimbing said.Only four areas which have been equipped with the online system Adi Soemarmo Airport in Solo, Adi Sucipto Airport in Yogyakarta, Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, and Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta but the system which failed to prevent people in legal trouble from leaving the country.GUSTIDHA BUDIARTIE
