Ekonom : Evaluasi BI Rate
TEMPO Interaktif, Jakarta:Bank Indonesia (BI) diminta untuk mengevaluasi suku bunga yang saat ini berada di level 8,75 persen. Karena level tersebut dinilainya tidak akan efektif dalam mencapai target inflasi.
Ekonom Indef, Iman Sugema, memprediksi hasil lelang suku bunga Sertifikat Bank Indonesia bertenor satu bulan pada pekan depan akan melebihi tingkat suku bunga itu. "Mau tidak mau SBI harus naik agar rupiah menguat. Bisa jadi SBI itu lebih besar dari suku bunga BI," ujarnya.
Dengan SBI yang lebih besar, menurut Iman, BI harus melakukan evaluasi suku bunga dan menyesuaikannya dengan prediksi yang lebih realistis ke depan. "Karena dengan dosis yang tepat, SBI bisa menolong rupiah,"katanya.
Kredibilitas BI sedang diuji. "Tapi evaluasi harus tetap dilakukan daripada kredibilitas BI makin jatuh,"kata Iman. Rr. Ariyani
