TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Ministry ensured that the salary hike for the civil servant, which is amounted to five percent, will take effect since January 2019. However, the increase will be paid after the issuance of Government Decree (PP).

“We, along with the State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reformation Ministry, will start to draft the decree in January, and usually, it will be issued in the third month,” said the Finance Ministry`s director general of budgetary Askolani in the office of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) in Jakarta, Friday, December 7.

Askolani asserted that if the PP is not issued in January next year, for example in March, the figure will be still calculated since January and will be paid at once after the policy issuance.

“It is the mechanism that the implementation is pending on the decree issuance,” he said. “Perhaps, the President will later announce it.”

Earlier, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo said that the government will raise the basic salary and basic pension for state civil apparatus (ASN), including civil servants (PNS) and retiree by 5 percent in 2019. The statement was conveyed last August during the plenary meeting on the 2019 Draft State Budget (RAPBN) at the parliament complex, Jakarta.
