TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned oil company Pertamina Marketing Operation Region (MOR) VII Maluku-Papua temporarily halted fuel distribution to Nduga Regency due to the unconducive situation in the area.
"We temporarily stop the distribution because the condition presently is not possible to distribute the fuel," said Pertamina MOR VIII General Manager Iin Febrian, in Jayapura on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
The fuel distribution to Nduga was carried out via water transportation, passing along Mimika to Kenyam District through a river. Iin ensured that Pertamina is always ready to continue the fuel distribution after the situation in the region has improved.
In Nduga, there was one mini gas station or APMS that was established as part of the one-price fuel policy. "We concern on the APMS even though there is only one because we can fulfill public needs and implement one-price fuel policy," Iin added.
As reported earlier, on December 2, 2018, a group of armed men shot at Istaka Karya workers in Yigi District. A joint team of TNI and National Police found 15 bodies estimated to be the workers. Eight of them had been evacuated to Mimika District, Papua.
