“This festival aims to promote Indian culture in Yogyakarta,” said Deputy Mission Chief of the Indian Embassy for Indonesia Prakash Gupta, after meeting with the Secretary of Yogya Gatot Saptadi in the Kepatihan office complex, Yogyakarta, Monday, December 4.
According to Prakash, this week-long festival will present a number of major agendas, including India-Indonesia tourism promotion seminar. It will invite eight travel agents from India and 30 travel agents from Indonesia. He said there would also be an Indian culinary festival and an Indian dance performance.
“We will also hold an educational seminar to attract Yogyakarta residents to study in India, in collaboration with the representatives of universities from India,” said the ambassador.
Gatot Saptadi said the planned Indian culture festival in Yogyakarta was a follow-up to the recent meeting of the Indian Foreign Minister and the Governor of Yogyakarta.
“This is one of the activities to strengthen India’s relationship with Yogyakarta. We will certainly support it,” said Yogya governor.
