TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) deputy speaker from Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction, Triwisaksana, questioned the decision made by Gerindra party and PKS upon the fit and proper test for candidates of deputy governor.
Sani, a familiar call for Triwisaksana, opined the test would spark a perception that candidates were not ready and worth to be Jakarta deputy governor. “Unless the test for candidates of regional-owned firm or agency head, but this is for deputy governor. How come a deputy governor or regional head is first tested [to occupy the position]?” said Sani in the DPRD building in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 7.
Sani considered the fit and proper test implied that candidates proposed by PKS were not capable to lead the capital city. According to Sani, Gerindra and PKS should only discuss candidates before submitting the name to the DPRD.
"When Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno are nominated by PKS and Gerindra, is there a fit and proper test? If Prabowo and Sandiaga must undergo the test, that means there are doubts," said Sani.
PKS and Gerindra earlier on Monday, November 5, held a meeting in Gerindra Jakarta office in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta to discuss the dispute over deputy governor`s vacant seat. The meeting concluded candidates to be proposed only came from PKS cadre and a team would be established to conduct a fit and proper test for candidates.
