IMF-World Bank Meeting Unaffected by Earthquake in Situbondo

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief Executive Officers of the IMF-World Bank meeting Susiwijono said that the earthquake that hit Situbondo earlier this morning had not affected the meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali.

“We conclude that nothing bothered the schedule and activities of the delegates or committee members especially in the IMF-World Bank meeting,” said Susiwijono in a press conference at ICOM, Nusa Dua.

Previously reported, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake shook several regions in East Java and Bali on Thursday, October 11, at 01:57 Western Indonesia Time. The meteorology, climatology, and geophysics agency announced that the epicenter of the earthquake was 55 kilometers Northeast off of Situbondo’s coastline at the depth of 12 kilometers.

“As soon as it happened, we tasked the entire team to check venue infrastructures and equipments and make sure none of them were affected. The event’s schedule is ready and none were affected,” said Susiwijono.

Susiwijono also stated that the hotels where guests and delegates have stayed did not sustain any damages so far.
