Sri Mulyani Deems IMF-World Bank Meeting Beneficial for Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati is confident that the annual IMF-World Bank meeting would produce a positive result for Indonesia and the people of Bali who experience the arrival of 30,000 delegates and members of the meeting.
“Bappenas calculates that Bali's economy will improve, and it is expected to be around Rp1.1 trillion, Rp1.2 trillion, or Rp1.5 trillion which exceeds the cost spent to hold the event itself,” said Sri Mulyani today, Oct. 10, at Nusa Dua, Bali.

Furthermore, Sri Mulyani assures that Indonesia will obtain many positive results by hosting the IMF-World Bank annual meeting in Nusa Dua, such as intangible elements regarding Indonesia’s image above the tangible factors that include an improved economic activity and investment opportunities.
The statement issued by Sri Mulyani is actually a response to numerous backlashes from several public figures that deemed the cost spent for the IMF-World Bank meeting too large, and that by hosting the event the government is unsympathetic towards several Indonesian regions that are currently struck by numerous disasters.
