TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prabowo-Sandiaga campaign team member, Sudirman Said, urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to immediately take action regarding the report of the Indonesialeaks` investigation related to the destruction of evidence allegedly committed by two former KPK investigators who were the Indonesian National Police members.
The damaged evidence was known to have contained a record of expenditure transaction related to the corruption case which ensnared the boss of Sumber Laut Perkasa Company Basuki Hariman.
“The fast and precise action of the KPK leaders on the results of the Indonesialekas investigation is very much awaited,” Sudirman said in a written statement on Tuesday, October 9.
According to Sudirman, the credibility of the KPK as a law enforcement agency was at stake in the case. He argued that from the results of the Indonesialeaks investigation, his belief in the independence and professionalism of the KPK was faded.
“I started to worry, maybe the story about the current situation of KPK is true,” he said.
Sudirman claimed to only hear stories about the KPK that could be suppressed by the rulers. “What I believe is that the KPK continues to work professionally and is free from the influence of anyone’s interests," he said.
Former KPK leader Bambang Widjoyanto also commented on the results of the Indonesialeaks' investigation. He questioned the courage of the current KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo to summon the Indonesian National Police Chief, General Tito Karnavian, whose names were in the evidence document.
