Sri Mulyani Calls for Higher Exports amid Climbing US Dollar

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani in tandem with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia will continue formulating policies in response to the global economic developments.
“We will keep on formulating policies, whether in the form of incentives or capacity-building to jack up our exports, because these are crucial,” she said at the Finance Ministry on Friday, October 5, 2018.

According to Bank Indonesia’s Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate, the rupiah trades at Rp15,182 per US dollar, down by 49 points from Thursday, October 4, 2018, which saw Rp15,133 per US dollar.
Sri Mulyani said Indonesia had the chance to step up exports, allowing for the strengthening US economy. “This is what I expect the business community will do, and we will fully support our competitive edge,” she said.
