TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Elections Commission (KPU) ensured that duplicate identities in the official final voters list (DPT) will not exceed two percent of the total number of voters. The KPU is currently sorting the DPT up to September 15.
“We are sure that the number will be under two percent, it could even be lower than one percent of the total DPT,” said KPU Commissioner Viryan Azis yesterday at his office.
The KPU laid down a total number of 185 million DPTs as of yesterday, which means that KPU expects no more than 1.85 million duplicate identities in the final voters list.
The Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) previously found duplicate identities from the final voters list in 285 city districts which amounted to 1,013,067 duplicate identities, a significant increase from the previous 131,363.
Viryan argued that the KPU had always been sure that the data on duplicate identities would not reach a fantastic 25 million as suggested by coalition parties siding with the 2019 presidential and vice presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno.
The KPU Head said that the real number came down to 6.3 million after a complete reassessment and places it under one percent of the total DPT.
