TEMPO.CO, Depok- House of Representatives (DPR) member, Intan Fitriana Fauzi, considered the plan to apply the odd-even policy on Jalan Margonda, Depok City was not a long-term solution. "But only as a short-term plan to overcome traffic congestion in Depok," she said in Depok, Sunday, September 9.

The National Mandate Party (PAN) cadre of Depok and Bekasi city admitted that the odd-even regulation was capable of reducing the traffic density in Jakarta. However, it could not be continuously maintained. "We don’t want people to purchase more than one vehicle due to the policy," she said.

Depok City administration planned to impose odd-even policy on Jalan Margonda every Saturday and Sunday. But the discourse sparked many pros and cons among the society.

According to Intan, the city administration must do the equitable development by accelerating the construction project of Margonda II, one of which is in Bojongsari area. With the project development, the infrastructure and economic activities are not only centered on Jalan Margonda.

Intan also demanded Depok City Government no longer issue permits for the construction of apartments in Margonda area.

Every weekend and national holiday, Jalan Margonda was packed by vehicles which most of them headed to shopping centers along the street. Several apartments also lined up in the area which triggered the traffic density and caused traffic congestion. This is the reason why Depok government mulled over to apply odd-even policy in the Jalan Margonda area.
