TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police had uncovered three prostitution practices in South Jakarta`s Kalibata City Apartment this year. The latest bust took place last week, with three people arrested—including two property agents.
"In the last seven months alone, we have made three busts," Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Division deputy director Adj Sr. Comr. Ade Ary Syam Indradi said here on Wednesday, August 8.
The first bust was in February, in which the police arrested a building cleaner for his work of 'delivering' customers to the units where the prostitutes were staying.
In May, the police named two people suspects for allegedly providing prostitution services under the guise of a traditional massaging parlor. The clients and the pimps made deals through WeChat messenger app.
Last week on August 2, the police caught three sex workers and two customers at the apartment's Flamboyan Tower. Three people had been named suspects; two of them are the marketing agents of Kalibata City Apartment, whose jobs were to rent units to prospective sex workers. The other suspect is allegedly the pimp.
In the latest case, the police said that 32 people were involved in the sex business; 17 sex workers and 15 customers—who communicated though BeeTalk chat app.
Five of the sex workers and two of the customers are underage. "Hopefully this would be the last time this happens here," Ade said.
