TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Mandate Party (PAN) founder Amien Rais paid visit to Prabowo Subianto’s house in Kertanegara Street on Tuesday night, August 7.

Prior to Amien’s visit to the Gerindra Chairman, PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan had secretly met President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo at the presidential palace on Tuesday noon.

Journalists nearly missed Amien Rais’ visit since Prabowo’s house was thickly guarded by security personnel and the frequent vehicles entering his house. Amien could only be identified by the silhouette of his clothes.

“Yes, there is Pak Amien inside [the house],” Gerindra Jakarta’s regional head Muhammad Taufik confirmed who was present in front of Prabowo’s house on Tuesday, August 7. However, Taufik did not reveal the reason behind Amien Rais’ presence at the house.

What is clear is that PAN has not decided its allegiance upon facing the upcoming 2019 Presidential Election. The political party is still uncertain whether to join Jokowi’s coalition or Prabowo Subianto camp.

Previously reported, Zulkifli Hasan said that PAN plans to decide its future after a national meeting on August 9, which was initially scheduled to be held in August 6 but was cancelled. However, PAN’s central executive board Yandri Susanto suggested that it is impossible for the party join the Jokowi coalition.
