TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Institute of Aviation and Space Agency (LAPAN) Thomas Djamaluddin said the phenomenon of the total lunar eclipse that would occur on July 28 could be witnessed in every region in Indonesia from several locations. It is predicted to occur at 01:24 to 05:19.
“The lunar eclipse can be seen everywhere, just like we see the full moon,” said Djamaluddin on Wednesday, July 25.
The micro-blood moon eclipse, that will have the longest phase, can be seen with naked eyes as long as the weather is bright. At least, there are three exciting locations to witness this special eclipse where the lunar path will be at its farthest point.
1. In five LAPAN offices in Indonesia
Djamaluddin said there are at least six LAPAN offices that will be opened during the lunar eclipse. The offices are opened specifically for visitors who want to witness the phenomenon together in Indonesia.

“The first in Pasuruan, East Java, where there are 23 telescopes to observe the lunar eclipse,” he said. The other cities include Pontianak, Garut, Bukittinggi, and Sumedang. Djamaluddin said, usually the LAPAN office will be visited by members of the astronomy community or the general public.
2. Planetarium
In addition to LAPAN office, Djamaluddin recommends people come to the planetarium to witness the phenomenon. At this particular point of view, people can see the micro-blood moon eclipse process in detail using a telescope.
“However, they must be patient because the tool is used alternately," he said. The planetarium that can be visited, said Djamaluddin, is Taman Ismail Marzuki Jakarta.
3. House Terrace
If you are too lazy to travel, you can also see the total lunar eclipse from the terrace of your house. The total eclipse phase can be witnessed from 02:30 to 04:13. You can watch it while drinking tea and relaxing with family.
