TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Jakarta Metro Police has mapped dozens of locations with empty houses prone to burglary. The locations are spread across the districts in West Jakarta.
"We have mapped, among others, two locations in Tambora, five locations in Cengkareng, five locations in Kembangan, three locations in Taman Sari, nine locations in Tanjung Duren, two locations in Kebon Jeruk, and eight locations in Palmerah," said Chief of West Jakarta Metro Police Sr. Commr. Hengki Haryadi in a written statement on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
Hengki confirmed that the Empty Houses Task Force of the West Jakarta Metro Police have conducted patrols around the locations. The Task Force was established to minimize crime, especially burglary that often targets empty houses left by its owners for homecoming.
"The task force conducted patrol every day for 24 hours within the West Jakarta Metro Police jurisdiction," Hengki said.
A similar task force was also established in other areas of the capital like South Jakarta, for example.
South Jakarta Resort Police spokesman Commr. Imam Santoso said that he did not map vulnerable areas in his jurisdiction, Imam, however, admitted that luxurious houses have been the target of burglary because it contains valuable goods.
"The task force does not stand guard on one location, but also conducted patrols," Imam said.
