Govt Set to Have 17 Toll Roads Ready by 2019

    TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government is targeting to complete 17 toll road projects worth Rp105.35 trillion in 2018 and 2019. The projects are included in the national strategic project list.

    According to the Priority Infrastructure Provision Acceleration Program (KPPIP), two projects are expected to be ready this year. The two toll roads are Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu), which spans 7.2 kilometers; and the 11-km Bogor Ring Road.

    Meanwhile, 15 other toll projects are targeted for completion in 2019, including some lanes in Trans-Sumatera and the Trans Jawa toll road.

    Earlier, KPPIP's chief of implementation Wahyu Utomo said that 38 projects were expected to be ready for use by 2018 and 2019; 13 in this year and 25 in the next.

    The 38 projects will have an investment value of Rp165.66 trillion, covering works on toll roads, airports, train lines, irrigation projects, and others.

    In a closed meeting lead by President Joko Widodo last week, the government decided to take out 14 projects from the National Strategic Project (PSN) list. The decision was made because it would be impossible to start the projects’ construction or achieve financial closings by the 3rd quarter of 2019.
