TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Police are still undergoing an investigation into the death cause of Matahari Department Store founder Hari Darmawan. The owner of Taman Wisata Matahari Puncak was found lifeless in the Ciliwung River, Saturday, March 10.
Bogor Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Andi Muhammad Dicky stated he had examined eleven witnesses. "From the investigation, the incident was due to an accident," he said, Monday, March 12.
One of the witnesses examined was the victim's personal driver. The driver was reported to accompany Hari while resting at the villa on Friday night, March 9. He claimed to see his employer went down to lower part of the villa which directly leads to Ciliwung riverside. "The witness saw the victim walked to the lower part of the villa building in front of Ciliwung River," Andi said.
The villa located on Jalan Hankam Cisarua District was flanked by two streams of Ciliwung River. "At that time, the current was quite strong," he said. Based on the driver's information, the villa could not be reached using the vehicle so that the car was left on the neighbor's villa.
"The victim ordered his driver back upstairs to get water from the car," Andi stated. The driver saw his employer went down to the riverside. However, when he returned, Hari was missing.
"The victim possibly had fallen into the river," said Andi. The body then was found the next morning about 100 meters from the villa, stuck between the rocks.
Based on autopsy results, Andi explained, bruises and a lot of scratches found on the body. "But it was allegedly due to a collision when he was carried by the current," he said. "In his trouser`s pocket we found Rp4 million cash, but the victim's cellphone was not there."
Andi concluded Matahari founder Hari Darmawan has allegedly died in an accident. The 77-year-old man suspected slipped as he went down the cliff, and was carried by the Ciliwung River stream. "However, we still conduct an investigation for in-depth information," said Andi.
