3 Workers Die as Pakubuwono Apartment Podium Wall Collapses

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The podium wall of Pakubuwono Spring apartment in Kebayoran, South Jakarta, collapsed last night. The incident caused the deaths of three construction workers, while three others suffer injuries.
The Jakarta Metro Police chief Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said on Wednesday that the incident started when eight workers were working on the wood fabrication and ceiling job at the podium area. Two other workers were painting the backside of the wall.
All of the sudden, the building of the podium area broke and on the edge of the podium, crushing the workers below.
Supervisors immediately rescued the workers and took them to the Medika Permata Hijau Hospital. Two workers died on the spot and had been evacuated, while another is still trapped under rubbles.
Argo said the police are still investigating the location to determine the cause of the podium wall's collapse. "We are examining whether there was a criminal offence or not," he said.
